(Seely Lake) Earlier this year, Pyramid Mountain Lumber announced they were closing their doors permanently, which would put an end to the last running lumber mill in Missoula County.
However, members of the Montana Farmers Union want to form a co-op to keep Pyramid going. This would allow most employees to keep their jobs, and keep the lumber moving for those that depended on Pyramid for their timber and off farm jobs.
MFU also said in a press release that Individuals and groups interested in keeping a healthy forest could also invest in the cooperative with non-voting shares.
