Monday Wildfire in Ennis Causes Evacuation Warnings

(Ennis) On Aug. 17, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation warnings to residents south of Ennis due to a wildfire start. As of noon Aug. 18, the warning had been lifted for all areas after firefighters contained the blaze.

Madison Valley Rural Fire Department responded to the reported wildfire at Dry Creek Trail Aug. 17. When they arrived, they began suppression efforts, protected nearby residences and called for assistance from county entities.

Firefighters worked throughout the evening to contain the fire, establish access, protect nearby properties, and extinguish remaining hot spots. Several residences in the area were evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to bring the fire under control.”

No injuries were reported and after crews remained in the area into the night, the fire was successfully contained. About 12.5 acres burned.
