(Great Falls) – From Saturday, October 27th to Sunday the 28th Montana Farmers Union will be holding their annual convention in Great Falls. Walter Schweitzer President of the Montana Farmers Union talks about the event.
“So, it’s going to be this October 27th and 28th. We actually have a pre-convention tour at the Sustainable Oils here in great falls on Thursday after noon at 3pm. And I’m pretty excited about this convention were doing things a little different instead of having numerous break outs so were going to do all of our educational in the main hall and we have Sarah Vogel who’s the Farmers Lawyer author is going to be our keynote speaker for Friday night. So, looking forward to hearing from her. We’ve invited all the statewide elected officials and candidates to come meet with our group and come speak to our convention and several have already confirmed that they will be there. It’s pretty exciting we have already over a 150 people that have registered for it so it could be one of the biggest conventions we’ve had in recent years.”
He goes on to talk a bit about the convention’s history.
“We’ll you know this is actually Montana Farmers Unions 108th annual convention Montana Farmers Union is the oldest and largest farm organization that represents the family farm. We’ve been here in Montana for over 100 years, as I’ve pointed out this is the 108th annual convention, and you know farmers use to have to come to this convention on horseback and train but now most of them drive here, we even have a couple of members that are flying here. It’s been a great convention with a lot of history.”
