HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) — Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks has announced the deadline for wild turkey hunting permits.
The FWP says wild turkey hunters have until Friday, March 13 to apply for spring season permits.
The permits are limited to 20 for Montana hunting districts 400 and 445. These districts consist of all or part of Cascade, Teton, Chouteau, Liberty, Toole and Pondera Counties.
All other hunting areas in the state, where turkey hunting is available, will be seen as general hunting areas by the FWP.
Wild turkeys are not native to Montana. In 1954 Judith Mountains originally introduced them to the area. The very first wild turkeys in the state were brought from Colorado.
