(Hi-Line) Today, a bipartisan bill sponsored by state Rep. Paul Tuss (D-Havre) to establish a Right to Repair in Montana received an initial hearing before the House Business & Labor Committee.
House Democrats say House Bill 390, titled the “Montana Agricultural Equipment Bill of Rights,” would provide Montana agricultural producers a legal right to repair their own equipment.
Dems argue that one of the most significant challenges faced by Montana agricultural producers is when original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) lock them out of repairing their own equipment, which is a practice that they call “particularly harmful” during the harvest season
In the previous legislative session, similar legislation was killed in committee.
