HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Labor & Industry (DLI) would like to remind the public that the minimum wage has increased to $8.75 per hour now that the new year has begun.
This is a 10 cent increase from the previous minimum wage, which has been adjusted annually for inflation after a ballot initiative was passed by Montana voters back in 2006.
This increase in the minimum wage is expected to impact an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 of Montana workers, equaling about two percent of the workforce.
Montana is one of 29 states, as well as the District of Columbia, with a minimum wage rate that exceeds the federal rate of $7.25 an per hour.
