Montana Sports Betting Rules Nearing Finalization, Local Businesses Awarded Licenses

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Lottery Commission is meeting on Thursday morning to put the parameters of sports betting in the state into place.

Among the agenda items includes deciding on what sports and type of bets Montanans will be able to place at kiosks or on the Montana Lottery’s mobile app.

All bets must be placed inside establishments with a sports betting license.

The Montana Lottery has provided New Media Broadcasters with a complete list of the more than 100 establishments in the state who have had their sports betting license approved as of Friday.

Businesses in our area that have had their license approved include Murphy’s Pub in Havre, the Cottonwood Inn and Monsons Montana Bar in Glasgow and the Pour House Saloon in Fort Benton.

This list does not include businesses with applications that are still processing.

Once the rules of sports betting are finalized, those with licenses must be trained on how to use the kiosks. A first date for sports wagering in Montana has not yet been set, but wagers should be able to be placed within the coming months.

Stay tuned to New Media Broadcasters for updates later this week following the Montana Lottery  Commission’s meeting.
