HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – In a letter to school superintendents across the state on Wednesday, Montana Superintendent of Schools Elsie Arntzen strongly recommended the lifting of mask mandates in schools in time for the start of the next school year.
NBC Montana reports that she also offered support to District’s that decide to end their face covering requirements before the end of this school year and for summer programs.
The CDC continues to recommend face coverings in school settings, and the Montana Federation of Public Employees says the decision should be up to individual districts.
COVID-19 vaccines have yet to be authorized for anyone under the age of 12.
