HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Governor Greg Gianforte’s Office has announced that the unemployment rate for August in the state was 3.5 percent, the lowest rate the state has seen since July 2007.
The state’s total employment, which includes payroll, agricultural, and self-employed workers grew by 1,505 in August.
This calendar year, Montana’s total employment was grown by more than 9,700.
In July and August, private employment increased substantially, but government jobs declined.
The county with the highest unemployment rate for August was Big Horn, with 6.7 percent. McCone had the lowest rate, at 1.9 percent.
The reservation with the highest unemployment rate was the Northern Cheyenne, at 10.3 percent. Flathead had the lowest unemployment rate, at 3.5 percent.
The national unemployment rate for August was 5.2 percent.
