Havre, MT – MSU-Northern Skylights basketball is off to a 4-2 start to the season after securing their first home win 74-58 over Stephens College Saturday night.
This was just the second official home game of the regular season. The Skylights lost their first battle in the season opener against Texas A&M San Antonio 82-80.
Head coach of the Skylights Chris Mouat said it felt good to win at home and is excited to defend homecourt throughout the season.
“Yeah it was nice. I mean they’re still kicking themselves a little bit on our first game of the year which could have gone either way and we didn’t win it. Protecting our homecourt is important. I think it started with that Minot game and kids value the time put out there, the work they put in and the people that come support them and so they want to play well. It was a long game; in the end we played alright.”
The Skylights started a seven-game home stand through the month of December and await Dickinson State and Bismark State this Saturday and Sunday.
