MRP Joint Board of Control votes to do one irrigation release.

(Hi-Line) The Milk River Project Joint Board of Control voted to begin releasing water from Fresno Reservoir on May 20th to meet irrigation demands between Fresno and Malta.

MRP says that because of the dryness of last winter, this release will result in lower reservoir levels, but a minimum pool of 6,000 to 8,000 acres will be maintained to protect community water service contracts.

The Bureau of Reclamation says that they will impose no water restrictions on municipalities, but that doesn’t mean the individual communities won’t impose their own water restrictions.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
