MSGA questions BLM’s Ultility-Scale Solar Development Plan Impact Statement

(Philllips County) The Montana Stock Growers Association submitted comments questioning multiple facets of the BLM’s recent impact statement surrounding its Utility-Scale Solar Development Plan.

The plan includes a swath of alternatives detailing the agency’s criteria for approving solar development applications on agency managed land. The proposal includes a strong focus in north central Montana, primarily in Phillips County.

The MSGA says that while the statement did acknowledge solar development is incompatible with grazing, it did not offer any mitigation for the potential loss of grazing acres.

The MSGA argues that grazing areas should be defined as excluded areas in this plan to avoid that loss.
