The MSU-Northern rodeo teams had their first performances of the season over the weekend at the Northwest Community College rodeo in Cody ,WY. Here were some notable results from both the past Friday and Saturday:
In the first go-round, Brittney Cox was first in barrel racing, finishing six-tenths of a second faster to win the competition. Jill Marcenko had a busy night as she was runner up for the women’s all around, sixth in the breakaway roping, and sixth in the goat tying. Harley Buchberger took fourth in barrel racing, while Tobin and Talan Cummins had a fourth-place finish in team roping. Kyla Burchard tied for seventh in goat typing and Colter Froshaug split seventh and eighth in steer wrestling.
To round out the competition for Saturday night, the Lights finished third and the Skylights took home fourth place. Cox improved her time in barrel racing aboard her horse Pearl and easily won the competition. Preston Bird and Chance ThreeIrons were a fourth-place team roping pair. A couple of rodeo competitors were fifth in their respective events: Kellan Statham in tiedown roping and Georgia Orahood in goat tying.
The Lights and Skylights will be in Glendive for the Dawson County Community College Rodeo this Saturday and Sunday.
