The cross country season is right around the corner, and we were able to sit down with newly hired Northern Cross Country Head Coach, Dan Lavy.
This is Lavy’s first head coaching position, and he told us how the situation came about.
“I started running in High School, so when I moved up here and started running with some of the boys and then they lost their coach, because Chad chose to step down, they were like, ‘we need a coach’, and through helping them out with running, this led me to apply. I’ve always wanted to coach. I thought I would have started with High School, but here we are at Northern,” says Lavy.
Coach Lavy also shared what his goals are in the midst of his first season at Northern.
“The goals this season, like I said, is to really change the trajectory as well as the athlete’s mindset from, ‘well we just run at northern’, to ‘hey, we run at Northern, pay attention to us’,” says Lavy.
