MSU-Northern Rodeo Preparing for Nationals

The MSU-Northern Men & Women’s Rodeo Team is preparing for the National Rodeo set to take place June 10th through the 17th. The Skylights Rodeo Team is coming off a great performance in the Big Sky Regional Rodeo in Missoula. The Skylights finished in 2nd as a team and earned a national bid. The Lights finished 3rd as a team, not qualifying for the National Rodeo, but individual Lights did earn a spot.

With an extended time to prepare compared to weekly competition, MSU-Northern Rodeo Head Coach Doug Kallenberger spoke about what he believes is a double-edged sword in terms of preparation:

It’s kind of a double-edged sword, it’s good to have that break but you also have to stay on top of it. You need to keep practicing every day, you need to have competition every day. The kids are planning to go to their summer circuit rodeo to stay on top of their game. On the other side of that we had a bull-rider and a bareback rider that were still a little bit hurt. In that aspect the break has been really good” – Kallenberger

Goodluck to the MSU-Northern Rodeo Team and stay tuned for more updates as they prepare for the National Rodeo June 10th through the 17th in Casper, Wyoming.
