The MSU-Northern rodeo teams have been competing in Miles City since Thursday and through two days of competition, the first rodeo was completed on Friday night. Notable Lights and Skylights were winners.
In the women’s all-around, senior Mikenna Schauer ended up finishing first with a score of 185. Schauer was also second place in the goat tying, completing it in 13.7 seconds, three-tenths of a second off the winner. Senior Garrett Cunningham was the average winner in the saddle bronc, scoring 123 points in his rides.
Other notable Lights and Skylights to place included senior Ethan Frasier in fifth in the bareback riding competition, scoring 53/1. Junior Jill Marcenko did the barrel racing in 28.29 seconds and also finished fifth. Schauer competed with Gavin McLean in team roping and the pair took sixth, going 6.9/1.
While Montana State won the No. 1 Miles City Rodeo, the No. 2 one is still ongoing and will conclude on Sunday. Stay tuned early next week for Northern results from the second Miles City College Rodeo.
