The MSU Spring Rodeo wrapped up on Sunday with the crowning of a champion. Northern finished fifth overall with a team score of 240 points.
LONG GO
Junior Chance Story earned 45 team points in a third-place finish 4.3 seconds for steer wrestling. Senior Mikenna Schauer did the goat tying in 6.5 seconds for third place and another 40 team points. Tied for third in team roping was Northern junior Georgia Orahood and UM’s Brad McLean, completing it in 8.6 seconds to give their teams 35 points.
SHORT GO
Senior Garrett Cunningham was an individual winner, taking the saddle bronc crown with a score of 68 points and 60 team points. Story improved in steer wrestling, completing it in 5 seconds, which secured 50 team points for second place. Senior Ethan Frasier scored 52 individual points in bareback riding, getting fourth place, which earned 30 team points. Schauer was fourth place in goat tying with a time of 7.4 seconds and 30 more points for Northern.
AVERAGES
For the second MSU Spring Rodeo, Story was the average winner in steer wrestling with a 9.3 score and 60 team points. He also won the high point buckle, which was awarded for the best overall score over the course of the competition. Schauer’s 13.9 score was third overall amongst the participants, getting 45 tram points. 5 points were earned by Orahood and McLean for their efforts in team roping.
Northern will next be at Miles City Community College for rodeo competition this Thursday to Sunday.
