MSU-Northern dropped basketball games on a frigid Saturday afternoon against Carroll College at the Armory Gym. The Skylights lost, (49-37), while the Lights suffered an (80-58) defeat.
For the Skylights (10-8, 1-4 in the Frontier Conference), the turnover woes continued. After 20 giveaways against Providence on Thursday night, Northern turned it over 25 times in this one. They also only managed one player in double-figures as Savannah Toms scored 11 points. Havre native and former Blue Pony Kyndall Keller scored a game-high 21 points, including a bank shot to end the third quarter that gave the Saints momentum the rest of the way.
The Lights (6-12, 0-5) were down by eight at the half before the Saints outscored them in the second half, (35-21). Northern shot only 38 percent from the floor in the 40 minutes. They were also out-rebounded, (38-16). Four players were in double-figures for the Saints, while the Lights countered with Leon Sayers IV matching his conference high of 15 points and Raefe McEnroe pouring in 13 points in the loss.
For the second time in three weeks, MSU-Northern basketball will be in Butte to take on Montana Tech. Those games tip off on Thursday with a 5pm start for the Skylights and a 7pm contest for the Lights. Both will be live on KQPX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com.
