Earlier this week, three MSU-Northern individuals garnered trophies from the Frontier Conference as the 2023-24 Award Winners and NAIA Awards Day nominees were announced.
For “Athletic Trainer of the Year”, the award went to Lights and Skylights trainer Robert Tate. He works in tandem with his wife, Taylor, and they make sure the athletes in Havre are going through the proper rehab in the long term and are patched up and ready to go in the short term.
Laura Gomez, an assistant professor and the chair of the MSU-Northern College of Technical Sciences, was given the “Faculty Athletic Rep of the Year” award.
The most distinguished honor that is given out every season to athletic individuals is the “Champions of Character”. It’s bestowed to the players that exhibit the most grace, humility, and hospitality throughout the season both in the field of play and in the classroom. The Frontier Conference awards its “Coach of Character” after every school year and the Skylights’ own basketball coach Chris Mouat was the recipient this time around.
