(NMB) It’s been a busy June for the Havre Northstars baseball team, they’ve played 16 games in the last 15 days and have won 14 times. New Media Broadcasters talked to head coach Ryan Divish and he said while his guys are physically a little tired, playing well certainly helps them.
“For the most part, they’re still enthusiastic about playing. I think part of it is they started to play well and they’re starting to understand how good they can be, and there is just a discipline to baseball and the grind that is the season, and you just have to focus for small bits and focus on every pitch, and we’ll get some rest when we can.”
Havre gets right back on the diamond today (Wednesday) as they travel to Lewistown for a conference doubleheader, will stay in Lewistown and play Great Falls for a single conference game on Thursday. Divish hopes his team keeps the win every inning attitude that they’ve bought into.
“They’ve really started to buy in to win every inning. If we go out and put up a zero, then we need to get one. If we give up one or two, then we need to get three and they’ve really started to buy into that.”
The Northstars will remain in Lewistown through Sunday and compete in the Harold Gjerde (Jerdy) tournament with games against Butte, Laurel and Miles City. Then it’s on the road again for conference games with Lethbridge and Vauxhall. Havre’s next home game will be Sunday June 29th.
They are currently 16-6 and 1 overall and 7 and 0 in North District play
