Northstars Split Doubleheader with Redbirds

The Havre Northstars  American Legion Baseball team traveled to Lewistown on Tuesday and split a pair of 7-inning games against the Redbirds.

The first contest was scoreless after three innings before Lewistown’s offense came alive, scoring one run in the fourth and four in he fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Havre scored one run each in the sixth and seventh innings, but left a runner on first base in the final frame after a strikeout and a groundout.

Brody Nanini went six innings in the loss, striking out four and allowing three earned runs. Kale Reno had a double, a walk, and two runs on offense.

In game number two, Havre got their revenge, taking down the Redbirds in an 11-inning thriller by a score of 8-5.

The game was tied at 4 after regulation and remained that way until the 11th when Havre broke the game open with four runs in the top of the frame. Lewistown scored 1 run in the bottom of the 11th and had the based loaded with just one out, but pitcher Tanner Delarosa slammed the door shut by forcing a ground out and a pop out.

8th grader Ezra Pyle had three hits, including a double, in the victory.

Next up for the Northstars is the Jamboree which they are hosting this weekend at Legion Field.
