EVEN SUAREZ – Havre, MT – The Havre Northstars took on the great Falls Chargers in a double header to begin the first of July. looking forward to keeping up their success against the chargers from last week’s showing; they came out hot winning the first game 15 to 4.
Havre got the game going with 5 runs in the top of the first thanks to a Kody Standiford two RBI single. He led the Northstars with five RBI’s in the ballgame.
Michael Thompson earned the win for Havre throwing four and two thirds’ innings allowing only four hits, four runs (only one which was earned), and striking out four.
In their second game of the double header, the Northstars failed to get the result they got in the first game. Despite once being up by eight runs, Havre fell short 14 to 16 to the chargers.
The Northstars did manage to rack up eleven hits in the contest, and Tyson Brandon even led off the game with a solo shot to left field to start an eight-run top of the first! Brandon and Quinn Elliot each had multiple hits in the game for Havre. Elliot led the Northstars in this one with four runs batted in.
Havre’s next games come Friday in another double header at home against the Vauxhall spurs with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
