Northstars Sweep Lethbridge in District Bout.

Havre, MT – The Havre Northstars hosted the Lethbridge Lakers Saturday evening and closed out the night winning game one 18-7 and game two 10-4.

In game one Havre jumped out to a 9-2 lead after four innings. Lethbridge responded with four runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to three(9-6). The Northstars quickly shut the door on Lethbridge knocking in  on run in the fifth and eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game 18-7.

Teegan Solomon and Conor Essert led Havre in RBIs with three apiece and Tommy Lewis got the win on the mound pitching just over four innings and striking out three.

Game two started with two runs for the Lakers and two runs for the Northstars. Havre took an eventual 4-2 lead after four innings. The Lakers quickly tied things up in the top of the fifth. Again, the Northstars refused fold under the pressure and drove home six runs in the bottom of the fifth to secure a 10-4 lead. The Havre defense held over the next two innings to claim the 10-4 victory and the sweep. Tyson Brandon spearheaded the Northstar offense driving in five runs on four hits. Connor Essert and Colter Solomon combined for six strikeouts in the Northstar victory.

With these wins Havre improves to 30-11-1 on the season and eclipse the 20-win mark in north district play with a 21-3 record and a five-game lead over second place. The Northsars are back at it again tomorrow, Sunday, July 13, against the Vauxhall Spurs at 2p.m. Vauxhall comes into Havre with an 18-8 record and are tied for second place in the district standings.
