The Havre Northstars finally beat the Lethbridge Miners on Friday night in the back end of a doubleheader to split the series. Saturday’s games would have a different feel as the momentum continued with the Northstars sweeping a doubleheader against the Medicine Hat Knights, (11-1) and (6-1), respectively.
Game one was a slugfest for Havre, who went up (1-0) in the second inning before putting up three in the fourth inning and seven in the fifth to mercy-rule the Knights. Ezra Pyle led the way with three RBIs, while Conner Mckay and Tyson Brandon recorded multiple hits in the contest.
Jevin Jenkins got the win on the mound for Havre, going four and two thirds innings and only allowing the one run.
In game two, Lane Kinsella was the victorious pitcher, throwing a complete game and giving up only one run.
Medicine Hat got that run off Kinsella to begin the game, but the Northstars responded with a two-spot in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a Mckay two-run single.
The rest of the scoring would be done the next very inning as Brody Nanini drove home Kinsella, McKay tacked on another RBI hit to plate Pyle and Terek Shipp and then Mckay ended up scoring on a Drake Berreth base knock the very next at-bat.
With another winning streak in progress, the Northstars look to close out the regular season on a high note on Sunday with a doubleheader against the Vauxhall Spurs. The 1pm first pitch will be followed by Senior Day festivities for Berreth, Kale Reno, Kinsella, Nanini, and Mckay in between games before play resumes.
