Northstars Sweep Weekend At Glendive Tournament

The Havre Northstars concluded play at the Glendive Tournament on Sunday against an opponent to be determined. It turned out to be a rematch from Friday’s contest against the Glendive Blue Devils. And just like Friday, Sunday’s result was the same, a win. This time, the Northstars came back to defeat the Blue Devils, (11-8).

Glendive got on the board in the first inning with two runs and added two in the second. Havre responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take a (5-4) lead.

Colter Solomon recorded a 2-run single and then Brody Nanini went yard for a 3-run home run, his third of the season.

After a clean third inning from both sides, the Blue Devils again took the lead in the fourth on an RBI single and 2-run double.

However in the bottom of the inning, Nanini took matters into his own hands again, hitting another 3-run homer, his second on the day and fourth of the year. Havre was up (9-7). Nanini finished the day 3-for-3 with two home runs and eight of Havre’s 11 runs batted in.

The Northstars added a run in the next inning courtesy of a Nanini RBI single and were able to fend off a seventh-inning rally from the Blue Devils that resulted in one run.

Havre now sits at (34-15-1) overall and are on an eight game winning streak. The Northstars will have a tough test coming up on Tuesday as they travel back to Lethbridge to take on the Miners. Lethbridge was the team that Havre last lost to way back on July 1.
