GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Falls Police Department says an off-duty officer shot and injured a man that was attempting to unlawfully enter his residence on Monday.
A press release says the man that was shot was transported to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at 4:24 AM on Monday morning. The press release says the male attempting to enter the residence was previously unknown to the officer, and the incident evolved to the point the officer shot the male with his firearm.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
The officer, who has not been identified, has been placed on administrative leave.
The name of the person shot is not being released at this time.
