One-Thousand Pounds of Unused Meds Collected on Take Back Day

(Centential Colorado) – Montana residents contributed to a regional effort to clear out unneeded prescription drugs.

During the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Take Back Day on October 24, sixteen law enforcement departments across seventeen sites in Montana collected one thousand fifteen pounds of unused medications.

Across Colorado, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming, the Rocky Mountain Field Division collected more than twenty-two thousand pounds—or over eleven tons—of expired and unwanted drugs.

DEA officials say proper disposal helps prevent prescription drug abuse and keeps chemicals out of landfills and water supplies.
