Havre, MT – Havre Blue Pony boys’ basketball was just short of the State tournament at the end of the 2025-26 season, but one player left a lasting impact on the Blue Pony coaches.
Dax Oswalt, a senior who led Havre in scoring last year has committed to play college basketball at Midland University. Head coach of the Ponies WaLynn Burgess spoke to the impact Oswalt made on him and the rest of the coaching staff.
“You know he always pushes you to be the best. As far as getting in and getting extra shots up, getting extra work in you know you’re always opening up the gym. I know coach Veis spent a lot of time with him during the summer opening up the gym.” Burgess said.
“He’s one of those ones that kind of helps you grow as a coach and pushes you in different ways. Having a kid that athletic changes what you do. He always wanted to be better and was always fun to be around. He is definitely going to be missed.”
Oswalt was one of five seniors who started for coach Burgess last season.
