CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – The P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Saving) Animal Shelter in Chinook is in the middle of their biggest fundraiser of the year.
Manager Alissa Hewitt says they are currently holding a raffle for several gift baskets, and are hoping to raise between $8,000-$10,000 for fencing.
“What we would like to do is section off (areas) so if we have dogs that maybe don’t get along with other dogs or maybe might be shy with people, they would still have access to (an area). And so all dogs could be out at the same time, but not in the same space. That will cut down on the threats for the dogs and would also make it safer for my volunteers that are out there with them, safer for the visitors who just maybe want to maybe meet one dog but don’t want all of the dogs rushing in from the kennels. So it would help out on all levels there.”
Hewitt says there are more than a dozen baskets available in the raffle.
“It ranges anywhere from coffee and tea to some handmade goods from some of our donors…It’s all across the board. Everyone will find something they’ll want. It’s $5 for a raffle ticket or $20 for five tickets. And you can come and see us at any of our fundraising events that we have coming up, or you can get a hold of any of our board members.”
