MALTA, Mont. (NMB) – Although many counties on the Hi-Line have seen a decrease in COVID-19 case rates as of late, Phillips County has seen increased transmission.
Since December 14th, Phillips County has reported a total of 30 COVID-19 cases. That means approximately one in every 135 Phillips County residents has tested positive for COVID-19 since Monday.
In an extensive Facebook post on Wednesday night, their Health Department says that they have found the virus to be spreading rapidly throughout the county. They ask the public to reconsider attending or hosting gatherings over the next few weeks.
They add that the local healthcare system is under stress and they need the community to help slow the spread. If you are sick, stay home, even if you think you only have a head cold or sinus infection.
As of Wednesday night, Phillips County has reported a total of 394 COVID-19 cases. 34 are active, including seven hospitalizations. 350 have recovered and 10 have died.
Eight of the 10 COVID-related deaths appear to have come from an outbreak at the Hi-Line Retirement Center, which has started providing weekly COVID-19 updates.
