The Havre Blue Ponies basketball teams both picked up wins over Sidney on Senior Day inside the Blue Pony Corral on Saturday afternoon.
In the boys contest, Sidney held a 13 to 12 lead after the first quarter but a 43 to 19 run over quarters two and three blew the game open and Havre cruised to a 66 to 45 victory. Matt Huse led 3 players in double figures with 18 points, 13 of those came in the 3rd quarter. Tre Gary and Dax Ostwalt each had 18 for the Havre Boys. Carter Heggem led the Eagles with 13 points. With the win, the Ponies are 9 and 9 overall and 4 and 3 in conference play.
The Havre Girls jumped out to a 22 to 7 first quarter lead, had a 40 to 11 advantage at the break and never looked back winning by a final score of 63-24. Amaya Jarvis was the leading scorer for Havre with 21 points. Tierra Parker had 12 points. The victory has the Ponies at 14 wins and 2 losses overall and a perfect 7-0 in the Northeast ‘A”
Havre will finish the regular season on the road Friday at Fergus and at home Saturday versus Laurel.
