Havre’s football playoff positioning took a big leap forward after last Friday night’s game, coming back to beat Laurel, (27-20). New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Jake Eldridge about belief in playing for one another and how that catapulted them to the victory.
“They stuck together as a team and worked hard for each other in all three phases,” Eldridge said. “(They) really overcame a lot of adversity and really started to trust and believe in themselves.”
“They really buckled down,” Eldridge continued. “I couldn’t be (prouder) of a group of guys of coming together and overcoming some adversity and figuring out a way to get it done and not quit.”
This week’s matchup for the Blue Ponies will be against a 1-win Sidney squad. Eldridge said the game coming up will be one to take seriously, but also mentioned that testing the depth of the team will be a necessity.
“We still haven’t put all three phases of the game together,” Eldridge said. “This is another opportunity for us to go out and compete against an opponent and play our style of football to our standard and really just take the next steps to getting better as a program.”
“We’re obviously going to go against a very capable opponent that’s going to be having a senior night,” Eldridge continued. “They want nothing more than to be able to come out and put their best foot forward against us.”
“We know we have to be at our best and that’s what we expect to do,” Eldridge said.
Havre (5-2) and Sidney (1-6) will square off in southeastern Montana on Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7pm on KOJM-610AM, 98.3FM, 92.5 Digital Channel 3, and HiLineToday.com.
