(NMB) Most Librarians in Montana are required to be certified. Havre/Hill County Library Director Rachel Rawn was recently re-certified which she says requires 60 credit hours done over three years. Most of her concentration is done in the Library Administration area which includes management and leadership. Rawn who has been Havre/Hill County Library director since 2012 told New Media Broadcasters she has seen a big shift in the way libraries are utilized in her 13 years as director.
“There’s been a movement towards being more of a community center rather than just a depository for books. We get a lot of people who just need a place to be during the day. A lot of people who come in to use our computers for job searching or entertainment.”
Rawn’s favorite part of the job is working with the public and the library staff.
The Havre/Hill County Library features weekly programs like Talk on Tuesday. There’s Books and Babies, Storytime and Crafternoon on Wednesdays. Lego Time on Thursday and Yarn Circle on Friday.
