Red Cross Urges Donors to Fill Missing Blood Types this Summer

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The American Red Cross is in of blood donors to prevent a summer blood shortage. A press release says that during the summer, especially around holidays like Independence Day, donations often don’t keep pace with patient needs.

Appointments can be made by downloading the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting, or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.

Local July donation opportunities include three in Havre. On Monday, July 8th, you can donate blood at the St. Jude Parish Center from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM. On the 9th, donations will be accepted at Northern Montana Hospital from 10 AM to 3:30 PM, and on Thursday, July 11th at Triangle Communications from 9AM to 3 PM.

In Blaine County, you can donate blood in Chinook on Tuesday, July 9th at Wallner Hall from 12:30 to 6 PM. On Wednesday the 10th, you can donate at the Harlem High School from 11 AM to4:30 PM.

In Glasgow, donations will be accepted on July 10th at the VFW from 11 AM to 5:30 PM and on the 11th at Frances Mahon Hospital from 9 AM to 2 PM.
