Rocky Boy and Fort Belknap Funding for Roadway Protection

In North-Central Montana, the Rocky Boy’s and Fort Belknap communities are receiving targeted funding under a newly announced federal safety grant package.

The Chippewa Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy’s Reservation will utilize more than one point three million dollars for its Route Six fence removal and installation project to eliminate localized roadway hazards. Concurrently, the Fort Belknap Indian Community will use multiple allocations—including thirty-one thousand seven hundred dollars for curve safety evaluations and sixty-five thousand dollars for targeted guardrail installations—to maximize protection across reservation routes.

The funding is provided through the Federal Highway Administration’s Tribal Transportation Program Safety Fund, an initiative designed to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries in Native American areas.
