(Havre) As previously reported by New Media Broadcasters, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte’s request to stay a district courts decision that he poll the state legislature again after vetoing Senate Bill 442 was denied by the Lewis and Clark County District Court.
Senate Bill 442 would allow use of tax money from the recently legalized marijuana industry to be used for the road department
Gianforte appealed that decision to the Montana Supreme Court, which reaffirmed the District Court’s decision by unanimous vote.
The road department in Hill County has reported that they’ve been running on a deficit in recent times, prompting the Hill County Commissioners to release a vote to the public this summer which would authorize additional taxation to fund the road department if passed.
The governor has until March 19th to poll the state legislature for a potential veto override.
