Sen. Daines announces Northern Montana Water Security Act passed US Senate.

(US Senate) US Senator Steve Daines announced that two of his bills passed the senate floor, and both are bills he says will support the tribal community.

His office says The “Northern Montana Water Security Act” would complete the final Indian Rights Water Settlement, the Fort Belknap Indian Community Water Rights Settlement in Montana after years of negotiations.

Those close to the project also say that this bill will fund and support Milk River Project repairs, including the repair of the St. Mary Siphon.

The other bill, the Crow Tribe Water Settlement Act would update the previous settlement to be fund-based rather than project-based, and also extends the authorization for the Tribe to develop hydropower on the Yellowtail Afterbay Dam.
