(Montana) Senator Steve Daines blocked Attorney Danna Jackson with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes nomination to federal judge.
This nomination by the Biden administration requires Senate confirmation, something Senator Daines said he withheld because the administration never sought his consent prior.
Rachel Dumke, a spokes person from the offices of Senator Daines, said quote ““Senator Daines believes confirming federal judges with lifetime tenure is among the most important decisions he will make and that these individuals must be trusted to not legislate from the bench,” end quote.
Had Jackson’s nomination gone through, she would have been the first Native American Federal Judge in Montana.
