Senator Tester comments on BOI requirements: “quit threatening people”

(Hi-Line) As previously reported by New Media Broadcasters, a Beneficial Ownership Information document is required to be filled out by business owners, including many farmers, before January 1st with penalties including hefty fees or even jail time.

Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall blames poor communication and outreach for the nearly 230,000 farmers who are required to file having not yet done so, and New Media Broadcasters was able to get comment from US Senator Jon Tester on this issue.

“Truth is I couldn’t find a website or a data base to tell me whether I filled it out or not, and I don’t know what kind of genius made the form but it’s absolutely the most user-non-friendly form I’ve ever seen in my life. Either simplify the damn form, or quit threatening people”

Tester says that he’s been in talks with the treasurer to alleviate some of the pressure on farmers.

NMB was not able to get a comment from Senate Candidate Tim Sheehy.
