Shelby, MT – On Friday January 9th, 2026, Jennie Shepherd was officially sworn in as Shelby Postmaster in her 15th year as a postal employee. Charles Bolton, Manager Post Office Operations, administered the Oath of Office.
Shepherd began her postal career at Great Falls, MT in processing as a clerk in 2015. Continuing her carrier advancement with USPS she then took on additional experience as an academy facilitator guiding new employees through USPS processes and training in their new positions. Looking for further opportunities, she held office in charge roles at both the Choteau and Boulder Post Offices.
“As a Postmaster in Montana, it is a privilege to help connect our rural communities to the government, in business, and to each other. I plan to use this position to continue my journey as a lifelong learner and pass my knowledge on to a broader spectrum of like-minded, service-oriented individuals.”
Jennie has 3 adult sons: Brent, Emmerson and Everett and in her spare time enjoys working on her cabin, spending time with family and her dog. She has a double major in English and Secondary Education from the University of Great Falls.
Established 1889 during the expansion of the railroad. George Savell served as the initial Postmaster of Shelby with a long line of successors. Shepherd oversees daily delivery including over 600 Post Office Box deliveries, 4 routes with a population of over 3,100 served and a staff of 7 employees.
