The MSU-Northern Skylights’ basketball team’s next opponent will be back at home against the University of Providence. Their basketball program has been going through an emotional roller coaster over the past couple of weeks because their men’s coach and former lead assistant for the women’s team, J.C. Isakson, has been away from the program and taking care of his infant son, Caleb, who was diagnosed with Neonatal Marfan syndrome, which affects the respiratory system.
Through his 7-year summertime program, “Hoops for a Cause”, Skylights’ coach Chris Mouat is rallying everyone in the Frontier and beyond to donate and shared what else will be happening at the game on Thursday for the Isakson family.
“I think it is really important that we can help (to) use our platform as basketball coaches and players to help somebody when they need it,” Mouat said. “We’re just going to do what we can to get the word out. We’ve got a couple of different areas to raise some money.”
“Thursday night here (at the Armory Gym), we’re going to be donating our 50/50 profits to J.C. and his family,” Mouat continued. “Hopefully everybody will continue to get onboard and do what they can.
