The MSU-Northern Skylights basketball team is off to a hot start, beginning their season with a (3-1) record. With all games so far being at home, the Skylights will have their first road test as they travel to Helena to take on the Willamette Bearcats (3-1).
Head Coach of the Skylights Chris Mouat was very complimentary of their opponent and knows it will be a great test for his team so early in the year.
“Coach does a phenomenal job with that team. We’ve played them a number of times over the years. She does as good a job preparing her team to play us as anybody I’ve seen. She really has them prepared and dialed in. They’re a solid, solid basketball team, well coached.“-Mouat
Coach Mouat is happy with the hot start but knows with Frontier Conference play right around the corner his team has a lot of growth they need to experience as the season goes on.
“You look at our team, we’re very, very inexperienced. Not necessarily young, but we are very inexperienced and that glares sometimes in games. So, we need to learn to play through those and kind of mature.“-Mouat
