MSU-Northern Skylights basketball will take the floor for the first time since suffering back-to-back losses at the University of Providence Classic in Great Falls. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Chris Mouat what the team chemistry has been going through during this time away from competition.
“We’ve been working on just getting better every week,” Mouat said. “A lot of new faces with a lot of experience and we’re mixing that together and we’re trying to do what we can to try and find the right lineup.”
“It’s been a lot of time with individual stuff,” Mouat continued. “Shooting, ball handling, the simple things.”
The Skylights will see a future conference opponent when Dickinson State enters the Armory Gym later tonight. Mouat previewed what he expects to see from the Blue Hawks and how his kids will have to retool and rebound.
“Well, they’ve got a nice balance of inside and out,” Mouat said. “Samantha Oase has been playing for them (for what) feels like forever. She’s really the glue on the interior.”
“They’ve got good balance (and) they defend well,” Mouat continued. “They’re going to get up and pressure you.”
“It’s just another good team coming in (with) lots of weapons,” Mouat said. “We’re just going to have to be on our toes.”
The (3-3) Dickinson Blue Hawks will make their last non-conference appearance in Havre, taking on the Skylights (1-2). Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm tonight and Noah Friedman will call the action on KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com.
