Havre, MT – MSU-Northern Skylights basketball is on their longest road trip of the season this weekend taking on Bellevue University on Friday and No.5 Dakota State University on Saturday.
As the Skylights look to battle the Bruins in Bellevue Nebraska there are a few aspects to the game that head coach Chris Mouat knows his team needs to control and execute.
“Yeah Bellevue is really athletic. I think we are going to have to do a really good job on the boards. Defiantly have to guard their athletes. They have some kids that are primarily shooters some are primarily drivers so we’re going to have to be on our game as far as who is who. I think we’re pretty prepared for that right now.” Mouat said disusing the Bellevue game.

After taking on Bellevue the Skylights travel to Madison, South Dakota for a battle with the fifth ranked Trojans. Coach Mouat knows Dakota State is a true top tier team but believes there is a way his Skylights can pull out the upset.
“Dakota State, tempo is everything. Those guys can score 100 points in any given game and you’re going to have to be in transition defensively on your toes for 40 straight minutes. They are a special team they are very very good, and in my mind easily could be the number one team in the country. They just have a tone of shooters, and they can rip a game open the way they run in transition the way the push the ball, and then they full court pressure you with their defense. So it’s going to be a game of tempo, and if we can control tempo, I think we have a great shot at winning, if tempo gets out of hand it’s going to be a tough time. We have been working on that all week and hopefully it shows.” Coach Mouat said.
