HAYS, Mont. (NMB) – The St. Paul Mission Grade School in Hays will not be open next school year, according to a letter obtained by New Media Broadcasters from Bishop Michael Warfel of the Great Falls-Billings Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church that was sent to Parents, parishioners and community members.
The letter says the School will remain open through May 2021, and they will begin planning in the fall for the reorganization and rebirth of the school. The reasons for the closure include a lack of teachers and a certified Principal.
Warfel adds that they will not be selling off or redistributing school resources, and that they are planning on hosting a public forum on the future of the school when it is safe to do so.
The St. Paul Education Association, along with the Diocesan Superintendent, will develop the reopening plan.
