HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The State-Tribal Relations Committee has opened a 30-day public comment period to further discuss tribal legislative proposals for 2021.
These proposals include legislation regarding runaway youth, motor carrier services, missing persons and the federal recognition of the Little Shell Chippewa Tribe.
For runaway youth, the committee is asking to authorize minors to consent to no cost emergency shelter services and to establish graduation requirements for youth who have experienced homelessness.
For missing persons, the committee is asking to establish a response team grant program, a missing persons review commission and to extend the use of the Missing Indigenous Person Task Force.
The public can email comments regarding any proposed legislation to hstockwell@mt.gov.
Comments will be collected until August 6. The committee will then discuss all public comments before sending the proposals forward for consideration.
