Sunburst Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Stealing Mail

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – A Sunburst woman pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court last week on allegations of stealing and destroying mail.

Amanda Jean Holland, 38, pleaded not guilty to the felony charges of theft of mail by officer or employee and destruction of mail.

A grand jury indicted Holland on February 20th.

Court documents state that from November 2018 to August 2019, Holland, a U.S. Postal Service employee, removed and stole cash and gift cards obtained within letters and greeting cards, and also opened and destroyed letters and greeting cards intended to be conveyed by mail.

If convicted, Holland faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

The U.S. Postal Services Officer of Inspector General investigated the case.
