The Dry Redwater Project is aiming to tackle a very large problem. They are working to lay miles of pipeline to bring clean water to rural and small-town communities in eastern Montana.
Mandi Nay the coordinator for the project explains the current stage of the project.
“We have recently gotten our federal authorization and we are working with the Bureau of Reclamation which is part of the Department of the Interior to complete what they call our feasibility report which basically takes our water system and puts it into a report that they can then provide to congress to authorize construction funding. Typically, when it comes to constructing rural water in the United States and in Montana specifically the process is you work with the Bureau of Reclamation to have a feasible project, and then once they authorize your project you get authorized construction funding through congress and there is a cost share. Once that is completed then we start construction.”-Mandi Nay
