(US Senate) Freshmen Montana Senator Tim Sheehy announced Tuesday that his bill, the Aerial Firefighting Enhancement Act, passed the US Senate by unanimous decision.
The bill was introduced by Sheehy and Democrat Senator of New Mexico Martin Heinrich. They were also joined by Democrat and Republican senators from Oklahoma, Arizona, Idaho, California and Georgia.
The bill amends the Wildfire Suppression Aircraft Transfer Act of 1996 to reauthorize the sale of aircraft and parts by the Department of Defense for wildfire suppression.

Sheehy says this will help the U.S. better suppress wildfires year-round by facilitating the acquisition of military excess aircraft
