The roads in Havre may soon be improving. Dave Peterson, the Director of Public Works for the City of Havre explains the plans to remove the ruts and bumps, as well as what the issues are with road maintenance.
“We’re going to start going around different areas of town with our patrols and try to knock down some of the bigger ruts and stuff like that so it’s more manageable trying to get around town. We’ve got our snow routes pretty well taken care of, so we really encourage people to take those routes when they’re going anywhere cause the side streets do get pretty bad, and unfortunately, we can’t get to every street in town and get the plowed. Some of the issues that we have is that we go in and plow and then we fill driveways or we put berms around cars and then they can’t get out and they want us to come in and clean those areas out and it gets pretty tough based on man power and equipment and stuff like that to do that so we try not to do that unless it’s absolutely necessary, but we’ll get out there and we’ll get those berms knocked down and make it more passable so people can get around town little safe and a little easier. “ -Dave Peterson
